INTRODUCTION:

Carey is a community of like-minded individuals that serve and minister to the community around us and beyond, as part of the ministry of Carey Baptist Church. Carey operates on two campuses (Harrisdale and Forrestdale) with a Church, College, Jump Early Development Services and Timber Cafe operating on each. Carey has also developed the Carey Right Track Foundation, Avenir Leadership Institute and Carey Hope, each of which serve both on and well beyond our campuses.

DESCRIPTION:

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking expressions of interest from skilled individuals interested in a career in network administration. Based at our Harrisdale campus, this position is responsible for providing high level technical and customer support including fault finding, resolving technical issues and reporting. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade networks and in house servers.
  • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications.
  • Keep an eye out for needed updates.
  • Support and administer third-party applications.
  • Ensure network security and connectivity.
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilisation, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses.
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords.
  • Resolve problems reported by the end user.
  • Define network policies and procedures.
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions.
  • Research and make recommendations on server system administration.
  • Assist the IT team in monitoring and processing help desk requests ensuring all requests are managed professionally, timeframes are met, follow-up actions are executed.
  • Assist in the management and use of hardware including laptops, tablets, digital cameras and video cameras, data projectors, and phone systems.
  • Provide technical expertise, support and training to College staff.

Responsibilities:

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

Essential
Formal qualifications. Tertiary, diploma or relevant industry certification.
3 - 5 years’ experience in network administration.
Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching.
Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
Ability to set up and configure server hardware and software.
Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
Adaptable with a desire to learn about emerging technologies.
Great at organising, prioritising and multitasking.
Ability to work with staff at all levels of an organisation.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Dependable and flexible when necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
Ability to work proactively and autonomously.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Mac and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with maintaining a network in an educational environment.

Experience with writing scripts for automation
