Description:

The External Affairs Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping our regulatory strategy and maintaining robust relationships with key governmental and regulatory stakeholders in the ANZ region. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in financial services or the fintech sector, particularly in a regulatory or government affairs capacity. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and will be instrumental in driving Binance’s compliance and advocacy efforts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in relevant positions within the financial services or fintech sector
  • Profound understanding of the financial regulatory landscape in AU and preferably NZ, including key regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is strongly preferred
  • Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and the ability to align regulatory initiatives with business priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, both internally
  • Hands on, innovative and result-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset

Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management: Establish, strengthen, and maintain relationships with key regulatory decision-makers and government officials. Organize and attend direct meetings, introducing relevant stakeholders, particularly the General Manager, to both regulators and politicians
  • Regulatory Monitoring and Reporting: Proactively monitor, report, and react to potential regulatory changes that could impact the company. Ensure regular reporting and contribution to consultation submissions, preventing unforeseen regulatory surprises
  • Strategic Alignment: Align government relations efforts with the ANZ business plan and priorities. Develop an annual strategic plan and maintain an updated and effective stakeholder map. Ensure that all efforts are in line with the overarching business goals and regulatory landscape
  • Revenue Growth Contribution: Drive and coordinate efforts to secure banking relationships to enhance Binance Australia’s fiat banking capabilities. Develop strategies to open new revenue streams through improved regulatory and banking relations
  • Industry Engagement: Engage in direct and industry-wide discussions on crucial topics such as custody, liquidity, and other regulatory conditions with the treasury. Actively lobby to create a favorable licensing framework and mitigate adverse regulatory changes, ensuring sustainable growth
  • Compliance Support: Work closely with the compliance and legal teams to ensure that all regulatory communications and strategic initiatives are legally compliant and effectively implemented. Provide insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders regarding regulatory risks and opportunities
  • New Zealand Market Support: Extend regulatory and governmental support to the New Zealand market, ensuring alignment with ANZ policies and strategic initiatives. Assist in developing regulatory strategies tailored to the New Zealand context as required
  • Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis management strategies to handle regulatory issues efficiently and mitigate potential risks to the company’s operations and reputation.
