Description:

If you are an extroverted, licensed attorney, who loves interacting with clients but does not enjoy conflict or the adversarial side of our profession (negotiating settlements, discovery disputes, trials) this is the perfect role for you!

ABOUT US:

At Poulin | Willey, we do more than practice personal injury law; we are shaping the future of legal advocacy, giving a voice to thousands against the titans of injustice. We are high volume and high energy. We are tech forward and data driven. But while we seek efficiency and optimization at every turn, our first core value is that we put our clients first. Our clients are not just a number to us - our vision calls for white glove client service throughout the process. We don’t just settle cases, we file them. And we take them to trial. Our firm is renowned for its formidable and relentless pursuit of recovering the full value of every case for our clients, a commitment that’s known to anyone who encounters us in a courtroom.

If you’re looking to join a team that combines legal innovation with a commitment to client advocacy, you’ve come to the right place.

  • We believe in justice for all – not just for the wealthy and powerful.
  • We believe that justice delayed is justice denied.
  • We believe that the best way to seek justice without delay is to manage all aspects of our firm using well-organized and uniform systems.
  • We are fast-paced and growth oriented.
  • We are tech forward and data driven.
  • We believe in rewarding smart, successful work.

ABOUT YOU:

You are extroverted and energetic. You love communicating with people and taking the time to make deep connections. You have a big heart and truly care. You could be on the phone all day. But you don’t really enjoy adversarial conflict. You are a people pleaser, not the argumentative type. Although you are tough, and can have difficult conversations when necessary, you would prefer a career that does not focus on that entirely.
You might be thinking you went into the wrong profession! In our industry, the adversarial minded gravitate toward litigation, and the people pleasers gravitate toward behind-the-scenes document review and preparation roles. But behind-the-scenes is no place for an extrovert! You would find that boring and unfulfilling. Plus, you are attracted to personal injury law because you truly care about helping people who have been seriously injured and cannot help themselves.
If this description resonates with you, then you are exactly the person we are looking for and this is exactly the role you’ve been looking for.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Our Foundation Team plays a crucial role in the lifecycle of a case here at Poulin | Willey Trial Lawyers. This dedicated group is the first Team to touch a new case, and takes care of all the front end work necessary to prepare the file for litigation. The team does such things as manage client treatment, collecting police reports, medical bills/records, and other evidence, setting up the insurance claims, and prepare the initial demand letter. Then, once the case is ready to go (the Foundation has been laid) it is transferred to one of our litigation teams to duke it out with the other side.
As an attorney on the Foundation Team, you would be primarily responsible for guiding clients through this initial phase – keeping them informed on the status of their case and answering any questions they might have. You would also ensure ethical compliance of other members of the team in their communications with those clients and other third-parties. You would monitor statutes of limitations and ensure that cases are moving through your team quickly and competently. Finally, you would oversee a small team of dedicated drafting paralegals who are responsible for drafting the initial demand letters.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Implement Firm vision and inculcate Firm values among direct reports.
  • Ensure ethical compliance of all Foundation team members in collaboration with State Director of Litigation and Litigation Practice Group Leader.
  • Communicate with clients whose cases are in the Foundational processes when they require an attorney’s advice or counsel.
  • Review (for legal and factual accuracy) and sign all offers of compromise.
  • Infrequently attend non-adversarial designated hearings (minor and wrongful death settlement approvals).
  • Review and approve disbursement sheets (and petitions and orders where applicable) for cases settled by the Foundation Team.
  • Run efficient, regular meetings of the Capstone Paralegals, coordinating calendars, addressing any issues that may arise consistent with the firm’s vision, values, processes, and practice.
  • Be aware of statute of limitations issues and flag them for Foundation Practice Group Leader when approaching the Firm’s impermissible benchmarks.
  • Identify, develop, and present optimizations of Firm processes to improve all aspects of Firm management and client case handling.
