The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Test Environment Architect for the F-22 Raptor Mission Systems Software team with a focus on developing cutting edge engineering solutions to continue to advance the world’s premier air superiority fighter located in Berkeley, MO.
This organization designs, develops, and demonstrates avionics solutions for the F-22 Raptor, the premier 5th gen air superiority fighter flown only by the United States Air Force (USAF). Your efforts will assist integration of cutting-edge technologies to maintain the Raptor’s dominance over the battlefield for many decades to come.
As a Mission Systems Test Environment Architect, you will have the following responsibilities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5+ years’ experience in all phases of the software development life cycle
  • 3+ years of prior technical leadership and team leadership
  • Experience with automated testing
  • This position requires a currently active US Department of Defense Secret security clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 10+ years’ experience developing embedded real-time software
  • Prior background in the development, integration, and testing of mission software
  • Experience working with multi-disciplined teams of engineers to create successful software products
  • Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as (or similar to) Git, Bitbucket, VersionOne, or Jira
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or Agile Scrum methodology for software development
  • Experience mentoring less experienced software engineers in a highly technical environment
  • Enthusiasm for driving software architecture and process improvements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing technical presentations for non-technical audiences

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Infrastructure Development Agile Release Train (iDART) Product Manager (PM), Release Train Engineer (RTE) and other relevant stakeholders (both inside and outside the F-22 program) to provide technical priority decisions for the F-22 software infrastructure teams which helps the teams during program increment (PI) planning each quarter as well as longer term roadmap planning
  • Collaborates and consults with software engineering leads, test leads, and the system design team, on key decisions regarding functional allocations and responsibilities, software architecture, software requirements and test strategies
  • Technically represents Mission Systems Test Environment to outside organizations and discusses capabilities and potential future capabilities with various organizations including the System Program Office (SPO) and F-22 partners
  • Primary technical leader of our secure cloud environment standup
  • Guides our software tool improvement, process improvement and metrics improvement initiatives
  • Supports the implementation of Enabler Capabilities/Stories in Agile management tool
  • Works with test labs across the F-22 Enterprise to bring commonality and stability
  • Participates in Requirements/Design reviews as needed, weekly reviews of selected projects and develops software test strategies
  • Reviews software verification plans and test environment changes as required
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and must have experience in Modeling and Simulation development
  • Must work well in a group setting and have strong inter-personal and communication skills. Trains and mentors others
  • This position requires a currently active US Department of Defense Secret (or higher) security clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
