The Boeing Company is looking for a F/A-18 Experienced Fuels General Mechanic to join our team in San Antonio, TX.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 4+ years of experience working as a F/A-18 fuel tank mechanic
- 4+ years of experience in F/A-18 fuel system maintenance, repairs and modifications
- 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting F/A-18 fuels systems technical data, blueprints, engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing specifications in the maintenance processes
- 4+ years of experience accessing aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
- Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with Depot Level/General maintenance procedures.
- Familiar with performing lock-out/tag-out, and performing Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) tests.
- Active Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and typically 4+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Remove and reinstallation of structural brackets, supports, vents, tubes, and component assemblies in aircraft fuel tanks
- Performs dry capacity checks, FOD free inspections prior to tank closure, fuel tank leak repairs/leaks checks, and drain/air purge fuel tanks
- Required to perform fuel system maintenance & pressurization checks as required.
- Perform fuel tank maintenance safety tasks to include clearing the aircraft when applying electrical power, use grounding safety devices, perform lock-out/tag-out, and performing Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) tests.
- Defuels and refuels aircraft as required.
- Read and interpret technical data, blueprints, engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing specifications in the maintenance processes.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, modify and replace aircraft fuel components and systems and follow-on operational access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
