Babcock is looking for a Heavy Fabricator to join the Fabrication team based in Devonport, Auckland.
Join our dynamic team in Devonport, Auckland, where you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise as a Heavy Fabricator.
As a crucial member of our Fabrication department, you’ll play a pivotal role in executing a diverse range of Heavy Fabrication activities, contributing to both ship and shore-based Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul, and Installation projects.

KEY REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Trade Certificate (Level 4) with relevant Fabrication Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in Heavy Fabrication and welding techniques.
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Marine OR Industrial Heavy Fabrication: Proven track record of success in executing Fabrication projects.
  • Full NZ Driver’s License (Class 1 Minimum): Ability to commute to and from work locations as required.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to troubleshoot issues and find innovative solutions.
  • Ability to Work as Part of a High-Performing Team: Maintain composure and task focus in high-pressure situations to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities:

ROLE SPECIFICS

  • $42ph – qualifications and experience essential
  • 1.5x paid after 40hrs, 2x after 43hrs
  • Full-time – 40 hrs per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fabrication: Construct fabrications from various materials using Heavy Fabrication workshop machinery.
  • Welding: Undertake welding of ferrous & non-ferrous materials in accordance with welding specifications.
  • Pipe System Fabrication: Fabricate new medium and heavy gauge pipe systems utilizing mocking-up techniques.
  • Estimate Development: Assist with estimate development and recommendations for Coatings modifications and proposed maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments and assist during peak load periods to ensure project success.
