Facilities Assistant
We are looking for a full time Facilities/ Catering Assistant to join us. This post is primarily performing catering duties which include cleaning in our main restaurant. I t may also require some domestic work in clinical, non-clinical and public areas of the premises if needed. The post holder is expected to meet the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS, maintaining cleaning and housekeeping standards. Experience in a similar role would be desirable but enthusiasm and experience of working in a team are equally important.

The hours of work are 37.5 to include weekends on a 3 week rolling rota
07:00 until 15:00
07:30 Until 15:30
08:00 until 16:00
You will be working alongside the same shift pattern as the chef on duty.

To provide support to the Catering, Domestic and Portering team and carry out various tasks within this role

Main tasks
The following gives an overview of the key main tasks for this role, but tasks may vary depending on team or location.
Catering Responsibilities
To ensure strict adherence to all policies and procedures in relation to food hygiene, including HACCP, (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points) personal hygiene and cleaning down procedures.
Carry out the regeneration of prepared meals, preparation of salads and sandwiches, and any other food items as required.
Ensure that the patient meals are placed in the appropriate ward trolleys at the correct time and ready for service.
To prepare and serve food and beverages as required.
Use of cash register if required.
To ensure security is maintained at all times.
Completion of departmental paperwork as required
Assist with the service of patient, visitors and staff meals
Provide the appropriate amount of crockery and cutlery in advance of service times.
Ensure that food presentation, portion control, temperature and quality standards are adhered to.
Patient/Customer Care Responsibilities
To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business and meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (2018) at all times.
Communication with colleagues, other members of staff, patients, visitors and members of the public.
Cleaning Responsibilities
Remove / replace / clean curtains and blinds as necessary.
Clean all hard floors and mop daily.
Empty, clean and replenish waste bins.
Seal waste bags and carry out appropriate waste disposal procedures.
Clean internal glass and ledges.
Clean all sanitary areas.
Maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
Maintain and respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out Facilities duties.
Thoroughly clean beds.
Replenish bed linen on patient discharge or as needed.
Damp dusting of furniture, fittings, interior glass and any low level cleaning requirements.
Replenish consumables – for example, paper towels, soap, toilet rolls.
Adopt a flexible approach, as you may be required to work at any Trust site.
Ensure the correct storage of all items.
To issue and collate inpatient menus.
Collect and clean all crockery and cutlery and kitchen utensils as required using automatic dishwashers where available.
Collect, wash and return water jugs.
Collect and replace soiled linen
Portering Responsibilities
Collection and delivery of goods.
Collection and delivery of medical gas cylinders.
Transportation of patients between wards and departments, if required on an occasional ad hoc basis.
Use of franking machine and letter sorting
Driving vehicles around site to collect waste. Full training will be provided
Transportation of food trollies from Catering department to the ward area
