Description:

St Patrick’s Mental Health Services is seeking a Facilities Foreman to assist in ensuring the structural safety and appropriateness of the building for the provision of service user care and support activities.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have completed at least 5 years’ post apprenticeship in a trade
  • Carpentry trade qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years working in a Facilities Department
  • Previous experience in Health/ Hospitality desirable
  • Must have previous experience managing a team
  • Must be competent in various aspects of Building works/services (e.g., minor Plumbing/ Electrical and Carpentry)
  • Must have a full clean driving licence
  • Must be proficient computer literacy skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Candidates must:

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Manage chargehand, craftsmen, porters, general operatives under the remit of the Facilities Department, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to all team members
  • Will deputise for Assistant Facilities Manager when required
  • Manage all contractors on site ensuring contractors induction is completed
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance all SPMHS sites is of a high standard
  • Undertake tasks generated by the Daily Work Order dockets and sign off when complete in a timely manner
  • Assist with carrying out weekly/monthly critical testing
  • Manage and maintain building comfort levels by monitoring BMS system
  • Maintain the Hospital’s access and control systems to include keeping the Salto access control system in proper working order through monitoring of all online locks and completing regular manual updates of all offline locks
  • Assisting with emergency preparedness planning and practice
  • Placement/Assembly/Maintenance of new and existing furniture around the Hospital campus
  • Assist Trades person/s on specific tasks as required
  • Ensure all inhouse and contractor PPMS are completed and logged in the appropriate timelines
  • Assist to ensure that the Department complies with all M.H.C. Standards
  • Carry out as part of a team the Legionella preventative plan
  • To participate in Craftsman “On Call Roster” as and when required
  • Operate forklift when and as required. Drive the Hospital van and Minibus as required. To ensure all vehicles are maintained in good working order
  • Work at heights using appropriate apparatus supplied by the hospital
  • Operation of Telescopic boom/hoist to carryout repairs, surveys and maintenance to roofs, gutters, and other structures after appropriate training
  • Assist in ensuring a Collaborative and Transparent relationship exists between the Health & Safety Department and the Facilities Department
  • Assist in Updating Business Continuity Plan as and when required
  • Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met
  • Carry a designated phone and pager for communication purposes and enacting the appropriate response
  • Issue fortnightly report to Facilities Manager / Assistant Facilities Manager on status of works
  • Be available during adverse weather conditions to ensure continuity of service.
  • Manage waste management procedures to comply with legislation.
  • To react and assist in Fire Alarm management and investigations and any other unforeseen emergencies
  • Inform the Management team on a regular basis ongoing issue
  • Must be willing to participate with all future technology developments relevant to the department e.g., CMMS, BMS
  • Must be competent and willing to undertake multiple trade tasks such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical
  • Will manage workshop and all stores to ensure they are kept safe and clean, also ensuring all staff have received appropriate training on all equipment and tools.
  • Must implement and update under the guidance of the Facilities Manager all SOPs related to the Facilities Department
  • Must ensure daily and weekly tasks are planned and delegated to all team members and completed in appropriate timelines.
  • Must manage team members time keeping
  • Will manage the ordering of required materials for the department to ensure a timely delivery of same is achieved
  • Must be available to be flexible to work outside of normal working hours to fulfil the demands of the rol
