Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The role requires 3–5 years of general building maintenance exposure with understanding and skills with small repairs, office coordination, etc. and strong understanding of building infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • A Certified Facilities Management diploma or equivalent education.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of applicable legislative and compliance regulations including; Occupational Health and Safety Act, Fire Code and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
  • HVAC, electrical, carpentry, mechanical experience is an asset.
  • Possesses a high level of professionalism when representing the Canadian Cancer Society in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Diplomatic and problem-solving skills.
  • Beginner to intermediate Microsoft Office skills and be comfortable learning new systems and database entry (NetSuite).
  • Multitasking ability in a fast paced, cyclical environment and working with multiple stakeholders across several departments.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of desk and meeting room set up.
  • A team player and a team builder.
  • Sense of urgency and the ability to be proactive on issues and opportunities
  • Work independently without regular direct supervision.
  • Commitment to and willingness to advocate of the Canadian Cancer Society cause.
  • French speaking and writing would be an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Primary Lead for the Facilities team overseeing all building and facility maintenance requirements for the Vancouver lodge and office.
  • Primary Facilities contact to liaison with the Vancouver lodge team for all building maintenance related to lodge operational requirements.
  • Contact with key vendor relationships for all interior and exterior building maintenance for repairs, improvements, contract submissions, permits and related logistics.
  • Evaluate maintenance requests, set priorities, and process work assignments. Contact vendors when required to schedule maintenance, repairs, or inspections.
  • Coordinating emergency evacuation plans, procedures, and drills in conjunction with the Lodge Manager; acts as primary contact and escalates as required.
  • Conducts weekly inspections of the Vancouver building including office and lodge to assess service levels of external providers, safety, tidiness, etc.
  • Complete basic repairs, troubleshooting, and organizing upkeep (painting, basic carpentry and plumbing, and general maintenance type tasks) to coordinate building maintenance-related work in a timely, professional manner and ensure work completed to good quality standards.
  • Support office and lodge teams with operational office moves, furniture moves, and deliveries.
  • Working closely with the Manager, Facilities and Operations support all building and facility maintenance requirements for the Vancouver lodge and office.
  • Support office team with onboarding and offboarding staff to receive notifications and coordinate requirements to the CCS work environment in consultation with HR.
  • Monitor, action, and redirect request from various departments in the facilities and reception mailbox to support cross-functional organization needs.
  • Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race.
  • Champion CCS as a hero in the face of cancer.
