Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Facilities Plumber located in Portland, OR!
Employees in this position will modify and test plant facilities plumbing systems as well as test mechanical systems (e.g., backflow preventers, water pressure systems).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds.
  • Experience with reading and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to calculate and apply basic mathematics

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work assignment from tie-in, job board, dispatcher, lead, supervisor or other accepted shop procedure.
  • Obtain and examine drawings, schematics, specifications/codes and other documentation for assigned job, as required.
  • Procure necessary materials and parts required to perform the job. Order new/replacement parts, as required.
  • Lock out, tag out and try out equipment for safety, as required.
  • Provide assistance and training to plumbers, as needed.
  • Perform planned maintenance on plumbing systems (e.g., deionization systems, main sewer systems, chemical tank lines, fire control systems, pressurized systems) per the Planned Maintenance Instructions (PMI) and to requirements of regulatory agencies (e.g., METRO, EPA).
  • Check the monitoring equipment on systems, to ensure they are functioning properly, as required.
  • Install, service, troubleshoot and repair various plumbing and mechanical systems (e.g., steam systems, compressed air/gas lines, fire control systems, sprinkler systems), as required.
  • Install, repair and certify (or get a qualified person to certify) backflow prevention equipment, as required.
  • Install, troubleshoot and service restroom facilities (e.g., sinks, toilets, urinals, water fountains), as required.
  • Determine and layout locations and dimensions using math, applicable drawings and documentation to modify or install plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Use appropriate test equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Service and/or rebuild electric pumps, as required.
  • Transfer and clean chemical processing systems per regulatory procedures.
  • Repair and maintain piping, pumps and transfer systems on fuel farms.
  • Use various hand tools (e.g., wrenches, pliers) and power tools (e.g., threading machine, band saw, victaulic groover) to accomplish the job.
