Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facility Maintenance Supervisor - Fuel Systems will be responsible for supporting all technical aspects of fuel systems operation and maintenance. This includes ensuring that CMH uses petroleum industry best practices and complies with all regulatory requirements; providing training, tracking, oversight, and quality control for all who use or maintain lodge or remote fuel systems; supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to all aspects of fuel safety, transportation, and operation; and maintenance and functionality of lodge-based and remote fuel caches and associated infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Journeyman Tradesperson in one of the following trades: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Pipefitter, Gasfitter, Industrial Electrician, Millwright; and/or C.P.C.A Petroleum Mechanic (PM1, PM2, and/or PM3); and/or Qualified Skilled Trades BC/ITA Petroleum Equipment Service Technician and/or Petroleum Equipment Installer, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience training others in the maintenance of a variety of fuel system types.
  • Valid certifications in WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Confined Space.
  • Intermediate First Aid Certification.
  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record

COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALITIES

  • Competence with computer-based maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of API Resources, ULC Ratings, B.C. Fire Code, National Electrical Code, Environmental Standards for Petroleum Products, Spill Response, and Resource Road Travel requirements.

  • A willingness to learn and develop skills with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative

  • Work with the Manager, Facilities to develop a strategic plan for fuel system maintenance.
  • Work with the Manager, Facilities to ensure that all staff who use or maintain CMH fuel infrastructure (lodge or remote) are appropriately trained to undertake those duties, and that such training and completion of tasks is tracked to ensure ongoing compliance with CMH procedures, policies, and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of a fuel systems preventative maintenance program, primarily through Facilities Maintenance Technicians’ and third-party expertise, as required.
  • Compile and maintain an accurate historical archive of CMH Fuel systems, equipment, infrastructure, maintenance, and training.
  • Act as the main fuel systems contact in CMH’s annual carbon accounting exercise.

Operational

  • Schedule and oversee all preventative, routine, and non-routine maintenance of fueling equipment at both lodges and remote fuel caches. Act as the primary point of contact for issues related to fuel system operation and maintenance.
  • Lead and organize remote fuel cache preventative, routine, and non-routine maintenance, inventory replenishment, and fuel slinging operations.
  • Coordinate with the CMH Purchasing Department, fuel suppliers, and distributors regarding fuel deliveries and transfers to lodges and remote fuel caches.
  • Know and understand the CMH Fuel Spill Response Plan and Fuel Handling Procedures and update as required.
  • Provide hands-on support and solutions to any fuel systems problem that might occur.
  • Provide response leadership in collaboration with Manager, Facilities should a fuel systems problem occur.
  • Model and enforce the highest standard of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Regulation compliance in all aspects of the role.

People Management

  • Oversee and coach Facility Maintenance Technicians regarding all fuel system maintenance procedures and policies. Evaluate current procedures for compliance, and establish new standards and priorities as needed.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Sustainability regarding major fuel system project implementation, fuel policy development, industry best-practice, and cross-system changes.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Roads and Run Development regarding lodge and remote fuel cache road access.
