FACILITY SERVICES JOB POSTING #2024-055
Position: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: As required and assigned throughout the DSBN school system.
Hours of work: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday)
40 Hours per week
Rate of Pay: $31.70 per hour
Responsibilities:
Follow the administrative and maintenance procedures and policies as set out by administration.
Read and work from manual and computerized blueprints, CAD drawings, specifications and building manuals.
Tests, maintains, trouble shoots, repairs, installs, cleans and performs maintenance on all building equipment, building systems and building components under the jurisdiction of the ‘trade’ position as stated in TSSA Gas Technician/Oil Burner Technician Policies and Procedures and in Ontario Regulation 215/01.
Install, inspect, alter, purge, activate, repair, service or remove a natural gas or propane appliance of any BTU input and the equipment and accessories essential to its operation,
Tests, maintains, trouble shoots, repairs, installs, cleans and performs maintenance on piping, control and processing systems, pneumatics, electronics, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation devices.
Performs preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment, systems and building components.
Carries out renovations. This may include new construction.
Dispose/recycle defective materials and equipment by work performed. Cleans up after the work.
Takes responsibility for all work performed under their jurisdiction. Ensure all work meets good construction and maintenance practices and meets applicable building codes, regulations and standards as set out by various authorities having jurisdiction.
Complete all work order assignments. Complete all administrative tasks associated with reporting work orders either in a manual or electronic format.
Reports any situation requiring major repairs to Supervisor.
Purchase and account for all material and equipment required to complete work orders. Carry out administrative tasks associated with purchasing with the Board’s purchasing cards (P-Cards) and blanket contracts set up with various vendors. Maintain the appropriate records, take inventory and complete accounting tasks as required.
Safely operates, maintains and be accountable for assigned Board vehicles. Performs the necessary tasks to ensure proper logs are maintained and report all deficiencies and accidents immediately. Always maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License for the classification of the vehicle assigned.

Regularly reports all employee absences, returns, payroll information and other reports to the appropriate Service Centre as directed by Supervisor.
