Description:
Falls Prevention Practitioner, Band 6 (Secondment- 11 months)
Are you a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional who is passionate about falls prevention? Do you want to be part of a friendly, supportive and innovative Falls team? Then we want to hear from you.
The successful candidate will participate in the prevention and reduction of falls within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT) working closely with the Falls Specialist Nurse and other colleagues within the Trust in line with Trust and National guidance on falls.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional (AHP) as a Falls Prevention Practitioner. Joining the team will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to develop expert skills and knowledge related to the prevention of falls. Opportunities to undertake post graduate study, research, quality improvement will also be offered.

You will inspire and motivate others, and act as a role model and a professional source of advice for others.
The role will involve the use of evidence to challenge and improve practice thus ensuring safe service delivery.
To maintain a highly visible presence so as to optimise the management and care of patients who have fallen, or at risk, supporting staff and patients alike.
To support staff to maintain high standards of falls prevention care.
Deputising in the absence of the falls prevention specialist nurse
You will be either registered nurse with the NMC or a registered AHP with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). The candidate will have knowledge of current issues relating to falls prevention, a recognised teaching qualification or willingness to undertake.
Have excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of research, audit, and quality improvement.
The successful candidate will able to prioritise own work load, to work independently and as a team.

Responsibilities:
- Identification of patients at risk of falling and review of patients who have fallen in our care providing appropriate interventions and advice patients and staff
- Working with the wider MDT in the reduction of falls within different areas
- Advising and supporting staff with falls prevention issues
- Completing falls audits and engaging with ward and departments to support their delivery of remedial action plans
- Teaching on related study days and review of educational packages
- Division and system wide meeting attendance and participation
- Exposure to external falls prevention conferences and regional meetings i.e The Southwest Falls Prevention Network
- Leading and supporting quality improvement projects
- Working with key stakeholders and partners including Public Health England, CCG, Occupational Health, NHSE/I
- Engagement in Trust wide shared decision making
