Join the Family Assistance team as the Employment Specialist. The Employment Specialist is responsible for the development, support, and implementation of Employment Services. Employment Services works to develop employment opportunities, vocational and educational partnerships, conduct outreach, develop, and provide coaching and teaching components to support clients to successfully navigate the job search process and secure employment. This position delivers services related to Economic Self-Sufficiency; Career Resiliency & Training; and Employment Stability Coaching to individuals and families receiving case management support through participation in Catholic Charities program services. Organize, plan, and execute workforce development events as necessary for various assigned projects.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Associate Degree
  • Two (2) years of experience in employment development
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

What you Deliver

  • You will develop and implement employment initiatives which include identifying, developing, and maintaining community partnerships for the purpose of stabilizing individuals and families through the opportunity to increase earning potential over time.
  • You will develop effective working relationships with employers and maintain regular contact to monitor program satisfaction.
  • You will assess the staffing needs of businesses and track employment placement and retention outcomes for program participants; Develop employment, vocational and education opportunities within the community assisting individuals to increase their earning potential over time.
  • You will determine client eligibility, assess client strengths and interests through interview and test administration, link with potential employers, and coordinate with assigned case manager. Working with clients to create and implement individualized action plans that foster employment and self-sufficiency. Coach clients as they follow their action plan in pursuit of employment. Encourage clients who experience rejections and promote client resilience. Alert clients of potential job opportunities and recruitment events. Provide clients access to job fairs through direct sponsorship or referral to events sponsored by community partners.
  • You will teach pre-employment classes and meet individually with clients struggling to become employed. Edit existing resumes and help clients to development new resumes for use in job search. Assist clients to write and practice their “elevator speech”. Work with clients to practice interview skills; offer “mock interviews” for clients. Assist clients to schedule job interviews; assess status of clients after placement; track employment status for 90 days or other designated period. Advocate on client’s behalf, if needed, to resolve workplace issue(s). Arranging transportation and other assistance for clients, as needed, in the course of securing a job. Referring clients to other services, such as ESL, vocational training, on-the-job Training (OJT), and literacy and education services. Assisting clients to enroll in services offered by community partners. Following-up to promote success.
  • You will assist in developing program marketing materials including brochures and other methods to advertise program services; Market all programs to businesses and community-based organizations; Prepare materials for and support completion of monthly reports and budgets as requested; Gather, analyze and process program data; Create, maintain, and/or supervise an effective filing system to support programs and clients relations; Enter and maintain ETO data entry for both clients and reporting purposes.
