As a vital member of our team, you will take charge of drafting compelling legal documents such as declarations and motions, crafting persuasive briefs, conducting thorough legal research for trial preparation, and keeping case files neatly organized and easily accessible. The successful candidate needs to be able to navigate the complexities of family law issues such as divorce, child custody and support, domestic violence, and property division, and skilled in both interoffice communication and client relations.

  • This is a full-time job where you are expected to manage a full caseload, so you absolutely must be able to work 40 hours per week.
  • On-site role with exclusive office space situated in Fremont, CA.
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday thru Friday

Compensation:

$35 - $45 hourlyResponsibilities:

  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues
  • Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
  • Experience taking a task from start to finish with minimal direction from supervising attorneys (self-starter, independent worker, problem solver)
  • Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
  • Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as petitions, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and declarations
  • Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
  • Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
  • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers

Qualifications:

  • Talented communicator and writer
  • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
  • Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
  • Required 1+ years of Family Law experience working in California
  • Candidate must be well versed in Family Law legal terminology, laws, judicial decisions, court jurisdictions, and procedures, and Family Law knowledge is a must
  • The ability to work with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer-literate and tech-savvy
  • Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities to perform this function are typically attained through approximately 1-2 years of experience performing work in the Family Law Field. Will only consider candidates that meet Family Law Experience Requirements
