What the role looks like
The Salvation Army works as one team with a person centred, safe and coordinated approach to service delivery to ensure the best outcomes for all who seek our assistance.
The position is responsible and accountable for supporting the delivery to women and their accompanying children affected by domestic and family abuse and/or experiencing homelessness to achieve housing stability, improve social inclusion and be equipped for participation in the wider community.

Those activities include;

  • Support the case management team in the ongoing implementation of case management plans and create a therapeutic environment with the crisis accommodation setting.
  • Work within a client focused, trauma informed framework
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Build effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care
  • Adhere to the Family Violence Stream vision, mission and values and that of TSA and contributes to a collaborative approach within the team.

We have multiple casual Family Support Worker roles based in Karratha. These roles require the successful candidate to work within in a variety of shifts times examples are 7:00am-3:00pm or 8:00am-4:00pm (Depending on the day), 2:00pm -10:00pm and sleepover starting at 7:00pm finishing at 8:00am

The role requires you to

  • Clients accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed
  • In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential high risk situations
  • Information is provided to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs and circumstances
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and support them to improve their situation
  • As directed, support is provided to clients to implement case plans in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
  • Clients are actively encouraged to engage in the implementation of case plans
  • Clients are assisted to access support services
  • Activities are monitored and clearly communicated to relevant staff for handover

What you will bring

  • Associate diploma with relevant experience; or relevant certificate with relevant experience, or experience attained through previous appointments, services and/or study of an equivalent level of expertise and/or experience to undertake the range of activities required.
  • Relevant experience with family & domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Mandatory National Police Check
  • Current WA Drivers licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Working with Children’s Check
