Responsibilities:
ABOUT OUR ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists to join Simplot’s Raw Procurement / Agricultural division in a full-time, permanent capacity working our 2 x properties in the Forbes area. With total farming area being approx. 1300ha - our farms are diverse in operations including; row cropping (wheat, canola), vegetable (sweet corn, broccoli, cauliflower) and livestock (cattle and sheep).
Commencing ASAP, the successful candidate will have the option of company provided accommodation in a recently renovated homestead (3-4 bedroom & suitable for families) including utilities (electric / council rates / water etc.).
Reporting to the Farm Manager and working with a team of experienced farming operatives, this role will predominantly work a Mon-Fri roster, but will require weekend work during busy seasonal periods.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Duties in this varied role will include but are not limited to;
- Operate agricultural equipment / mobile plant - e.g. tractor / planter / spray rigs etc.
- Ground work / tilling / crop preparation
- Irrigation - scheduling, operations and maintenance (our irrigation system consists of 21 centre pivot irrigators)
- Harvesting of a variety of crops
- All aspects of livestock / animal husbandry
- General farm duties e.g. fencing and road maintenance
- Mixing of fertiliser / weed control products in preparation for spraying
- Contribute to continuous improvement (CI) activities
