Description:
Farrell’s Excavating Ltd. has an opportunity available for a Construction Safety Officer located near St. John’s, Newfoundland. Travel within Newfoundland is required for projects.
Farrell’s Excavating has been providing service in the heavy civil industry of Newfoundland since its incorporation over 30 years ago. They play a major role in the completion of many large government and municipal projects that involve the building and paving of many of the province’s main highways and rural roads.
Responsibilities:
- Addressing all safety concerns raised by site personnel to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conducting thorough accident investigations for all incidents, including accidents, near misses, or injuries, and ensuring accurate recording and implementation of recommended actions.
- Preparation, review, and monitoring of site-specific safety plans, hazard assessments, safety checklists, and risk assessments.
- Delivering on-site safety orientations for all employees to ensure awareness and compliance with safety protocols.
- Facilitating and leading toolbox meetings to discuss safety procedures and address any concerns.
- Collaborating with foremen and superintendents to conduct site inspections aimed at identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Compiling comprehensive documentation related to safety throughout the project duration, including maintenance of daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Completing new hire and rehire orientations to ensure implementation of Company’s Health and Safety Program. Track training for all employees & maintain up to date records.
- Obtain necessary NL Power, Bell Aliant and Rogers permits for work. Schedule work orders with NL Power, Bell Aliant and Rogers concerning power shut offs, pole braces, pole holds, pole removals etc.
