We are on the hunt for a Creative Digital Technologist to join our Fashion research & Technology research group and our Digital Fashion Technology Master development team. You will take part in building the curriculum and, it is foreseen, will start teaching in September 2025. Are you the maverick that likes to function at the intersection of technology, fashion, and out-of-the-box thinking?

HERE’S HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are looking for a technologist that loves to find ideas and translates them in to prototypes, research proposals, and new educational program(s) at master level. This position is a beacon for those who believe that the best innovations & ideas come from the fusion of diverse disciplines, perspectives, and research through design.
Research task and activities:
You will have a leading role in carrying out research projects and research development about digitalization and fashion technology. You will work closely together with the head of the research group (lector) and other researchers on research through design projects where you will program & find (new) technologies to translate projects from ideas to concrete experiments. Imagine working on automatic unwrapping and pattern extraction from 3D body scans and virtual prototypes for 3D knitting, immersive 3D prototypes to research co-creation, play, and the value of digital twins, or programming AI tools for (digital) fabric identification & production. Or do something completely different: we are eager to hear what your ideas are!

Tasks:

  • Dive into the world of digital technologies like AI, Blockchain, IOT & VR/AR/MR and develop technology prototypes that combine functionality with design, pushing the boundaries of what digital fashion can and should be.
  • Work on academic output for scientific, professional and/or public audiences.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, obtain external funding, and responsibly manage project budgets.
  • Work alongside designers, engineers, and scientists on projects to integrate cutting-edge technology with fashion, and develop new project proposals for these driven projects.

EDUCATION/TEACHING

We are seeking one of the spearheads of the creation team for our new Master’s program in Digital Fashion Technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of education in this rapidly evolving field and make a significant impact on the industry.

Tasks:

  • Work in a small interdisciplinary team of designers and engineers to develop a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses theoretical knowledge and practical digital skills relevant to fashion design, development, production, and branding.
  • Design course materials, including lectures, workshops and applied projects, that engage and challenge students.
  • Be an interlocutor between the industry, AMFI’s bachelor, and the MA Digital Fashion Technology and take a leading role in translating research findings & new digital technologies to education.
  • Teach at the start of this new Master’s program in Digital Fashion Technology (September 2025).

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

At AUAS, no two employees are the same. No matter who you are, we are sure you can be a valuable addition to our team. We’re seeking individuals who are not afraid to see the world through a different lens. Whether you’re a master in programming digital tools, an educational specialist that loves to create new and challenging educational programs, a digital nomad that love to push fashion into the digital arena, a mad scientist with an eye for original experiments, or a visionary with outlandish ideas, we want to hear from you!

We stand for a culture where decisiveness, optimism, professionalism and transparency are key. Given the nature of the position, we are looking for someone with excellent collaboration and communication skills.

  • Knowledge and passion for technology to push the boundaries of fashion education and research. Experience in digitalisation in fashion a plus.
  • A Master or PhD degree in computer sciences, Industrial Design, Fashion, Computational Design, or a related area
  • Experience in educational development, preferably on master level
  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English languages, demonstrated through strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and dynamic workplace where every team member feels valued, heard, and encouraged to contribute their unique ideas and perspectives.
