Description:

With a commitment to quality spanning over 66 years, the Stockyard Group produces high quality grain fed Wagyu and Angus beef and has embraced innovation to deliver Australia’s most awarded branded beef. The Group’s operations span breeding, pastoral operations and lot feeding through to global sales and marketing, with Stockyard’s Kerwee feedlot a modern 20,200 head cattle facility located at Jondaryan, Queensland.
An opportunity has arisen to join the Stockyard Team as the Feedlot Manager.
About the role:
Reporting to the General Manager of Innovation and Livestock Operations, we are looking for a full time Feedlot Manager to join our team. To be successful in this position, you will have an excellent understanding of feedlot operations and/or intensive beef cattle production. You will have strong planning, prioritsation and communication skills and the ability to bring together multiple departments in pursuit of site and broader business goals.

We require expert understanding and practical experience in:

  • Delivery of governance frameworks, processes and practices ensuring alignment with best practices and legislative requirements.
  • Managing capital improvement projects.
  • Financial management and planning.
  • Forecasting and budgeting with a focus on major OPEX and CAPEX to align with our business goals and return on investment expectations.
  • Agricultural commodities, trade and farming practices.
  • Maintaining and improving proactive planning initiatives to assist effective operations and communication.
  • The ability to lead, connect, motivate, and inspire a sense of ownership of shared objectives amongst a team.
  • Fostering a safe workplace culture, promoting employee health and wellbeing.
  • Drive key measures of quality inclusive of sustainability and animal welfare.
  • Making key decisions based off feedback, analytics, and critical thinking.Our ideal person will:
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Have sound knowledge and experience of governance principles and industry best practices.
  • Have strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Be passionate about the development of the team
  • Be a safety and quality ambassador.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or related role
