Description:

The purpose of the post of IT Engineer (Field Support) Is to operate, administrate and manage the South West London ICB endpoints (desktops, laptops, printers, etc) at our GP IT practices. Support the other IT teams to ensure ICT service availability meets or exceeds target service levels and supports the corporate strategy and requirements for future proofing. The job requires on site visits across South West London (Richmond, Wandsworth, Croydon, Merton and Sutton) by local transport or using own car. At times, the post will also include operational support for the infrastructure, server & network teams.

The purpose of the post of IT Field Engineer is to provide IT engineering support to clients
focused on the installation and maintenance of end user devices e.g. PCs, laptops and
peripherals. The post holder also may assist with the delivery of some infrastructure support
for server & network infrastructure across South West London. Travel across all South West
London ICB sites (including GP surgeries and clinics) will be required.

ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICSs):
to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare;
tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
enhance productivity and value for money and;
help the NHS support broader social and economic development.
NHS South West London Integrated Care Board decides how the South West London NHS budget is spent and develops plans to improve people’s health, deliver higher quality care, and better value for money.

Responsibilities:

  • End User Device imaging, configuration, deployment and support.
  • KPIs
  • Provision of technical guidance and problem-solving support to other IT team members.
  • Responsibility for the safe operation of IT end user devices
  • Supporting administration, documentation of all the installations and processes
  • Supporting the operation and documentation of corporate and GP IT estate monitoring and security
  • Diagnosis of IT problems and incidents
  • Consistent application of relevant IT policies and governance frameworks
  • Responsibility for the effective resolution of endpoint incidents
  • Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of problems and major incidents
  • Monitor and maintain the corporate and GP IT estate to meet organisational needs
  • Support and delivery of endpoint & infrastructure optimisation
  • Working with relevant peers to ensure the security of the ICT systems and assisting in the planning and execution of system testing necessary for new and upgraded infrastructure installations prior to release
  • Support the organisation with risk assessment and risk management as required.

  • Maintain asset registers for core hardware, systems, and 3rd party services
  • Supporting and maintaining endpoint and infrastructure processes .
