Description:

Field Scientist Team Lead - Western Australia
About us
At Arca, we pull carbon dioxide from the air and store it permanently as rock. To do this at scale, we partner with the minerals industry to implement our technology at mine sites, using their rock waste as our feedstock. These are the same mines that are producing the minerals necessary for the transition to a clean energy future. Arca’s founders are leaders in the field of carbon capture in mine tailings with more than 20 years of experience in innovation and research.
We believe that by working with nature, not against it, we can achieve carbon dioxide removal on the scale needed to secure thriving and abundant life on Earth for generations to come. If that resonates, we want to hear from you. We’re building a team of sharp, mission-driven, and collaborative individuals who take pride in using their skills to contribute to a sustainable future.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Arca is piloting new technology at mine sites in Western Australia and is now hiring locally. We are excited to welcome new members to our Australian team!
About the role
Our Field Scientist Team Lead will oversee our field team at the Mount Keith Nickel Mine in Western Australia. In this role, you will be working closely with our Australian management team, our Vancouver-based Deployments Director, and field team members to set up, test, run, and maintain field equipment and processes that accelerate carbon mineralization in mine tailings. Due to the remoteness of the mine, the Field Scientist Team Lead will work on a FIFO roster, generally one week on, one week off.
This role is critical to the successful deployment and operational excellence of our carbon dioxide removal technology in the field and will require flexibility in planning field work shifts and an affinity for the outdoors.

  • Utilize problem-solving skills and creative thinking to overcome problems in the field, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Manage logistics, inventory, equipment maintenance, and field data collection, ensuring high standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with project scientists, and other stakeholders to advance technology deployment and operational goals.
  • Report on team performance, field data, and project progress to senior management
