Echologics is currently searching for a Field Specialist based out of our Toronto Office. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of our projects including project planning, field testing and data collection, reporting, client management, project management and will involve travel within Canada and the United States of America. While the position is based out of Toronto, there will be travel required to other areas of Canada and USA up to 50-75% of the time. The field work and training will be outdoors, conducting acoustic condition assessment tests on water pipelines, with project planning and reporting between deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting ePulse acoustic condition assessment measurements of water mains
  • Conducting PipeScreen pipe material classification surveys on water service lines
  • Training customers, subcontractors, and partners on various technology offerings
  • Writing project plans and technical reports
  • Supporting project managers and engineers with various project management tasks
  • Management of equipment inventories
  • Administrative duties such as time tracking, expense tracking and subcontractor coordination
  • Project logistics planning and coordination
  • Work in compliance with the Mueller Water Products Code of Conduct and all Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Engineering technologist or Engineering diploma or equivalent
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve technical issues and work independently
  • Job or extensive volunteer experience performing hands-on outdoor work
  • Ability and desire to travel extensively, sometimes on short notice
  • Experience with field use of testing equipment, such as surveying, sample collection, underground utility locating, GPS, etc.
  • Suitable for entry level candidates, or those with 0-2 years’ work experience
  • Client-centric attitude
  • Hold and maintain a valid passport with the ability to travel within the Canada and International
  • Valid G Driving License

The following experience and qualifications would be assets in this position:

  • Written and oral Fluency in French
  • Job experience with client-centric roles
  • Familiarity with water distribution systems, or experience in utility industries
  • Experience in leak detection or condition assessment of water utility infrastructure
  • Experience with confined space entry and basic traffic control
  • Level 1 or greater water operator license
  • Experience interpreting GIS mapping interfaces and construction drawings
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail
