Current Rate of Pay: Min = $23.54/hr, Max = $27.29/hr

WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Minimum pursuing post-secondary diploma or degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field
- Valid Class G2 driver’s license
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Familiarity with aquatic invertebrates in the Greater Toronto Area or southern Ontario
- Familiarity with The Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network (OBBN) protocol
- The ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a field environment
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Under the guidance of their supervisor, prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to resolve issues
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation
Responsibilities:
- Assists with planning and preparation for seasonal field activities.
- Carries out monitoring and data collection activities in support of TRCA’s West Nile Virus Mosquito Monitoring program.
- Participates in surveying, utilizing environmental monitoring instruments and equipment.
- Assists with fish and benthic invertebrates sampling, water quality data collection (e.g., collect water samples), sediment samples collection and other aquatic habitat data collection using standardized protocols.
- Participates in daily safety meetings, including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
- Assists with monitoring activities, including data entry and management, records management, data analysis, report writing, and other duties, as assigned.
- Assists with mosquito monitoring data QA/QC and entry/input.
