Field Technician, Yankee Services

The Yankee Services Field Technician position provides worldwide onsite machining and thermal coating services for our tissue paper producing customers. Supervision is provided but will need to work independently once trained on a rotating shift basis opposite a fellow technician to ensure the Yankee cylinder is serviced and finished to the customer’s satisfaction and specification.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:

• Implement drying cylinder service projects - repair / grinding / thermal spraying / inspection / measurement - on customer sites
• Maintain, repair and service equipment used in the field operations to make sure safe and effective operation without lost time due to equipment failure
• Monitor and report equipment function noting deviation from normal operating conditions whilst working on customer sites
• Troubleshoot technical issues You will follow established procedures and guidelines to perform a variety of operational and manual tasks that form part of the service process
• The dedication to learning and continuous improvement of both oneself and the business
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team environment
• A minimum of 50% travel, including holidays and weekends, many times with very short notice
• Clean driving record, ethical, and reliable

The position calls for a unique set of skills, which we will train to the candidate with the right base skills, aptitude for learning, and a positive attitude. The position is ideal for a machinist, mechanical or electrical skill-base candidate with the desire to advance, learn, and lead.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Knowledge & experience in machining to close tolerances, including the associated maths required to measure, align and verify said tolerances
• Basic electrical knowledge, including fault finding
• Thermal spray experience
• Industrial mechanical & fitter experience
• Personal Requirements The Yankee Services Field Technician position requires a personal commitment in order to work within this very challenging environment
• Field work requires 12 hour shifts, both days and night shifts
• Some project may be scheduled back-to-back
• Field machining and thermally spraying is hot, dirty, and physically demanding work
• Shop work is a standard 8 hour day. Shop work includes the maintenance of our equipment and preparation for the next projects
