Job Purpose
To assist the Financial Management Team in the provision and development of sound, accurate, timely and meaningful financial information. The post holder will assist in the preparation of financial reports and other information and to conduct initial investigations as required. The Finance Analyst will provide support to the Finance Manager for the Division.
This role is suitable to both band 3 and band 4 applicants and banding, if successful, will be dependant on experience.
Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate budget expenditure information.
Assist in ensuring accuracy of expenditure information in the financial ledger and associated feeder systems.
Assist with the on-going development of sound financial management systems.
Prepare and ensure accurate input of budget and expenditure journals to agreed timetables.
Assist in the analysis of budget and expenditure variances.
Ensuring accurate representation of budget expenditure position in liaison with other teams.
Assist in the production and analysis of reports and confidential financial information.
Attend budgetary meetings as part of the Finance team as requested.
Band 4 Only
Contribute to the on-going development of sound financial management systems making recommendations where appropriate.
Production and analysis of reports and confidential financial information.
Support budget holders in answering budget / expenditure enquiries.
Provide accurate basic costings as requested.
Attend budgetary meetings.
Assist with the development of PLICS (Patient Level & Information Costing System).
Provide assistance in other areas of Finance as appropriate, approx. 20% of time to be committed to supporting cross-divisional tasks.
Actively participate in delivery of financial training programmes to NHS staff.

Budgetary Control

  • Support budget holders in answering budget / expenditure enquiries.
  • Provide accurate basic costings as requested by Budget Holders and other managers.
  • Attend budgetary meetings on behalf of the Finance department as requested.
  • Assist with the development of PLICS (Patient Level & Information Costing System).
