In this role you will:

  • Deliver the period end close process ahead of review and challenge by Finance managers.
  • Review and challenge regulatory returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission and response to regulator queries.
  • Complete all tax reporting submitted by finance.
  • Prepare and deliver M&S Bank entity reporting to HSBC UK/Group (including IFRS, FINREP, GSIB, IFRS9 and intercompany oversight).
  • Support with the preparation of the annual report and accounts for M&S Bank and be a primary contact point for the M&S Bank audit, leading updates with both senior management and audit.
  • Write briefing papers for senior management and Board.
  • Ensure that a robust control environment is maintained and improved for all team reporting deliverables.
  • Ensure robust documentation of assumptions and key judgement areas.
  • Coach others to share knowledge and best practice.
  • Build constructive working relationships within and outside of Finance, with pro-active timely communication and face to face meetings ensuring a ‘no surprises’ culture.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Ideally be a part or fully qualified Accountant.
  • Accounting and reporting experience, including knowledge of general ledger finance systems.
  • Have the ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Good stakeholder and time management skills.
  • Ability to drive change and continuous improvement in quality.
  • Commitment to personal development and self-improvement.
  • Proficient Excel user.
  • Experience of team management and leadership beneficial but not essential.

This role is a full-time role based in Chester, Hybrid.
