DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The College of Design (DSGN) is composed of three schools and one independent department: the School of Architecture & Environment; the School of Planning, Public Policy and Management; the School of Art + Design; and the Department of the History of Art and Architecture. One of six professional schools or colleges at the University of Oregon, DSGN has over 100 tenure related and approximately 80 non-tenure-related faculty. These faculty drive undergraduate and graduate degree programs that enroll more than 1500 undergraduate majors, 500 graduate students, and contribute to the broad liberal arts education of another 2000 students. DSGN runs an overall operating budget of $25.5 million with operations in both Eugene and Portland.
The college’s degree offerings are in Eugene, nestled in the lush Willamette Valley, and at the historic White Stag Block, the University of Oregon’s hub of activity, discussion, and engagement in Portland. Students can also take advantage of many varied field school and study abroad opportunities to enrich their academic experiences.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance and Operations Manager (FOM) reports to and provides direct financial and operational assistance to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Operations (ADFO) in the DSGN. This position also works regularly with DSGN administration, faculty, and other staff members to provide training and guidance on business and financial policies, processes, and procedures. This position coordinates directly with the Central Business Service Office (CBSO), shared with the School of Journalism and Communication and Clark Honors College, to review and approve DSGN accounts payable, purchasing, contracting, and travel requests.
