4th Battalion The Royal Yorkshire Regiment (4 YORKS) are looking for an outgoing and motivated individual, with strong inter-personal skills and an eye for detail, to be part of an innovative and high-performing team with a focus on providing outstanding customer service in the role of a Financial Systems Administrator (FSA). The vacant post is a full-time position and advertised at 37 hours per week.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a financial or administrative role and is able to easily adapt to changing priorities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The FSA plays a vital role in the delivery of finance and administrative functions to the unit, which is important to ensuring that all military personnel are well administered. Good administrative and financial processes allow the military personnel within the Battalion to conduct their duties effectively.
The candidate will need to be a team-player but be able to work on their own initiative. The right person will need excellent organisational skills and to be confident in their problem-solving ability. They will also have the ability to communicate with confidence to a varied customer base as well as senior leaders.
The individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Public Funds Account using the Cash Office Management system, book-keeping of the unit’s charitable funds and overseeing the accurate and timely processing of pay and allowances for military personnel using a bespoke IT system.
The role holder will, as the senior civil service grade within the Battalion, be required to support lower Civil Service grades and Line Managers, with Civil Service procedures.
The role holder will also provide timely and accurate advice to military personnel on entitlement to allowances and expenses for periods of temporary duty away from their permanent duty station and is required to authorise expense claims.
Occasional travel to the Battalion locations may be required as well as the attendance at role related seminars, conferences and courses across the UK.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
