JOB DESCRIPTION

An opportunity has arisen within Finance Business Team at South Cambridgeshire District Council for a highly motivated individual to work as part of our dedicated team. We’re seeking someone proactive, enthusiastic, and with excellent communication skills.
This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to start and/or progress their career in public sector Finance and for those of you who like a challenge.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to learn a variety of financial and administrative tasks quickly and willingness to develop their skills within the finance team. For the right candidate there’s the possibility of studying for a formal accountancy qualification (e.g., AAT) whilst gaining valuable experience across a range of finance and accountancy functions.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the finance business partners with the preparation of revenue and capital budgets, monitoring spending and income during the year and preparation of final accounts.
  • Assist in the statutory account production providing quality audit file and producing monthly audit schedules.
  • Contribute to quarterly management reports by reviewing the figures and providing explanations for any variances or adjustments.
  • Provide financial advice & support to meet the needs of the Budget Holders/ Service Managers.
  • Ensure management accounts, budgets and forecasts are delivered to strict deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for the council and registered entities.
