Robert Half is looking for self-motivated leader to drive change while mentoring, leading, training, and developing an accounting team for a Burnaby based, national distribution company. Holding responsibility for the month end close and reporting to the CFO, this role would provide oversight to a team of accountants while participating in corporate wide initiatives around process improvement, and transformational change.

• Assisting, training, and managing a team of accountants, reviewing work and providing feedback as necessary
• Preparation and review of monthly reporting, variance analysis, financial statements, and budgets to ensure accuracy and flag any points of significance
• Preparing financial and operational reporting to support decision making
• Maintenance and development of internal control frameworks
• Identify and drive process improvement
• Development of budgeting, forecasting, and modelling
• Assisting with special projects as needed

This is a great opportunity for a Sr. Accountant looking to make a transition into a leadership capacity, a Manager/Sr. Associate from Public Practice who has had significant experience working with distribution or inventory-based companies, or an Accounting Manager looking to drive the modernization and sophistication of an accounting team. Additionally, as the ideal candidate you bring:

• CPA Designation
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• ERP system experience, ideally with the work order and/or inventory module
• A process improvement mindset, including experience with change management
• High emotional intelligence and low ego; able to move seamlessly from rolling your sleeves up to get into the weeds and participate in highly level business strategy conversations

As the company moves through the process of modernization and sophistication the duties of this role will elevate and sophisticate as well; providing a clear pathway to a Controller position within 24 months.
