Job Introduction

Adult and Childrens Financial Services (ACFS) support the delivery of the following Staffordshire County Council priorities:

  • To offer support at times of crisis to help people maintain their independence
  • That people know what to expect from care services, who is eligible and who will pay
  • There are quality and affordable care services available to meet people’s needs

ACFS is a pivotal part of the Adult and Children Social Care Pathways, responsible for facilitating and overseeing the payment to providers of Adult and Children’s Social Care and for the collection of client contributions in accordance with Care Act 2014 and local policy.
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our existing service as a Finance Officer. It is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, fast paced team responsible for delivering our payment and billing functions across social care.
The role provides an opportunity for hybrid working from our office and remote working to suit circumstances. This role is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Main Responsibilities
The role is principally responsible for processing accurate and timely provider and carer payments and client contributions charges, however there are wider, more diverse functions such as processing deferred payment agreements and direct payment audits which is integral to the role.
You will be required to liaise with multiple stakeholder groups, including social care providers and people in receipt of social care, as well as collaborating with internal stakeholders to continuously improve the business area and provide excellent customer service.
The Ideal Candidate

You’ll:

  • Have good communication and time management skills
  • Be able to develop effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service
  • Be able to use produce accurate work using computer systems

An understanding of social care and charging would be beneficial but isn’t essential as a training programme will be provided, as well as ongoing support and development.
