Description:

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our friendly finance team.
The role is based in our St Ives headquarters in Cambridgeshire and there is scope to work at home some of the time if preferred.
Ideally you will be a qualified or part qualified accountant with NHS finance experience. You will have experience of working on Oracle and being part of an NHS finance team, your excel skills will be very strong and you will be able to communicate clearly and concisely with a broad range of people.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information in line with financial procedures and timetables through completion of own work and liaison with others.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the Trust’s statement of financial position, including ensuring that relevant control accounts are reviewed on a monthly basis and corrective action is taken on a timely basis.
Supporting the Head of Statutory Accounting (HoSA) in productions of Year End accounts, including liaison with internal and external auditors, and monthly regulatory returns.
Supporting the HoSA to monitor and manage the Trust’s shared service contract delivery for Finance and Accounting and Payroll Services.

Support the HoSA in maintaining a financial systems timetable with responsibility for ensuring all financial accounting elements of the timetable are completed by the allotted deadline. Advise and provide recommendations on any identified problems basi
Comply with all delegated responsibilities in respect of the monthly closedown timetable including:
Production of draft reports for review
Prompt investigation of variances and correction of errors
Support the production of reliable forecasts in agreement with appropriate budget holders
Provision of accurate and comprehensive monthly financial performance information (e.g. Finance Dashboards) for services within own area of responsibilit
Review and maintain complex balance sheet control accounts ensuring all identified items are valid and have appropriate supporting documentation. Take corrective action as and when necessary, including liaising with key staff within and external to the Finance Departmen
Monitor and report the Trust’s capital spend, working closely with the Trust’s Estate’s team, posting journals in the finance system where required
Update the Trust’s lease register and manage the reporting process for IFRS 16
Support the Trust’s working capital position, working with the Finance team and shared services provider to manage
Oversee the payroll process for employee amendments to be made in an efficient and timely manner on ESR, including starters, leavers and changes, within the responsibilities of Finance and using the process and system determined by the Trust. Ensuring an auditable trail for each transaction
Support the HoSA to manage and progress the implementation of ESR Projects and to administer on-going maintenance to ensure the data is accurate and up to date
Ensure that all appropriate queries to the finance department are investigated and actioned as required
Support the financial reporting of the Trust’s Charitable Fund, providing financial performance information and financial controls
Assist in design, implementation, management and oversight of internal controls, including the development and modification of accounting systems when required
Meet regularly with the external operational teams delivering the Trust’s shared service contract, discussing performance and any issues. Working collaboratively to deliver the best possible service
