Responsibilities:

OUR ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join our Accounts team based in our Brisbane office. Reporting to our Senior Financial Accountant and General Manager - Financial Operations, you will be a part of a talented, close-knit team of dedicated finance professionals, working collaboratively to support our Perth and Brisbane teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analysing financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your role will be instrumental in supporting the finance team and other departments to optimize financial performance and facilitate strategic decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist the Senior Financial Accountant in preparing and analysing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights to support decision-making processes.

General Ledger Management:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Financial Accountant to oversee the general ledger accounting process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.

Financial Analysis:

  • Work closely with the Senior Financial Accountant to conduct variance analysis and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and presentations for management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial metrics.
  • Collaborate with department heads to analyse budget variances and provide recommendations for cost optimization.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant in staying updated on relevant financial regulations and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings and coordinate with external accountants during audits and reviews.
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting requirements, including responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies.

Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Financial Accountant to identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in recommending and implementing best practices for financial accounting and reporting.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
