Description:

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this position is responsible for Datalex group tax, compliance and planning across all tax heads and for certain accounting areas as outlined below.

Required skills and experience:

  • Qualified ACCA/ACA trained with 3+ years post qualification experience.
  • Preferably practice trained with some experience in industry having a combination of both tax and general accounting experience.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of tax laws and regulations in Ireland and the UK. Knowledge of tax legislation in other jurisdictions would be advantageous.
  • Tax qualification e.g. AITI, CTA, etc.
  • The proven ability to quickly assess problems and find effective solutions.
  • Very competent in Microsoft Office, with a high level of proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.
  • Ability to identify areas for process improvements which will be seen through.
  • Very detail-orientated with an ability to translate financial data into information that can be understood by departments in a non-finance role.
  • Team player who takes initiative and works constructively with others to achieve team goals.
  • Strong technical skills including broad knowledge of IFRS and Irish/UK GAAP
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong communicator both orally and in writing

Responsibilities:

Responsible for:

  • Ensuring multi-jurisdictional tax compliance for the Datalex Group across all tax heads – corporation tax, employee taxes and VAT with support from external advisors
  • Assisting with tax planning in conjunction with Director of Finance and external tax advisory firms
  • Transfer pricing compliance and administration.
  • R&D tax credit preparation and submission with support from external advisors
  • Supporting with tax audits as required
  • Accounting for current and deferred tax
  • Reviewing and amending new policies and procedures as required to ensure tax compliance.
  • Supporting tax advisory in the context of commercial initiatives such as new customer contracts
  • Non-tax related:
  • Capital expenditure accounting.
  • Year end and month end closing process, which involves having ownership of certain areas, such as share based payments accounting and administration, share capital accounting, tax related accruals and provisions, and other areas as required.
  • Support the Group reporting manager and the wider team in preparation of statutory financial statements across few jurisdictions, as well as assisting in preparation of annual and interim reports.
  • Support the Accounting team where required with regards to management accounts.Other general accounting tasks as may be assigned
  • Deal with tax technical queries from colleagues and resolve tax technical issues, providing a view/second opinion on tax technical matters, as they arise.
  • Communicate tax developments in Ireland, and internationally with colleagues.
