DESCRIPTION:

Financial Aid Officers provide information and guidance to new and returning students about budgeting; student financial assistance programs including loans, awards, and grants; funding eligibility and selection criteria; and student loan repayment options. The role also supports the administration of government student financial assistance, institutional awards and scholarships, and emergency aid programs, following established processes and criteria.
In this role, you will work as part of a team to support all students across the region. Daily, Financial Aid Officers meet with students and their supporters to determine their financial status and provide advice and guidance about financial assistance options available to help support the costs of post-secondary education. You will administer financial aid programs by liaising with provincial and federal government student loan bodies; entering appropriate student data into reporting systems to confirm and maintain aid eligibility; receive, process, and code student loan, grant, award, and scholarship applications; verify whether applicants meet preliminary eligibility criteria; and make recommendations for award and grant approval. The role requires that you develop and maintain thorough knowledge about student financial assistance sources, availability, policies, and procedures.
