Description:

They deliver financial planning and analysis through financial modelling, scenario analysis, budgeting, forecasting and other analytics. This role collaborates with teams across operating divisions to consolidate and analyze results; and supports standardization and performance across the organization.
Reporting to the Finance Manager of Operations for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, the Financial Analyst I play assists with various financial activities and analysis. The role collects, analyzes, and interprets financial data to provide insights and recommendations to management for informed decision-making. This role will interact regularly with senior finance professional individuals and management in Engineering and other groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation of financial reports, labour report and finance statements by collecting the data and providing insightful information and metrics.
  • Assists with annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts for both operational overhead as well as chargeable project hours by collecting previous years actuals and providing recommendations.
  • Runs weekly labour reports and providing analytical commentary.
  • Conducts variance analysis against budget and forecast to identify key drivers of financial performance and to assess budgetary compliance.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of a project or initiative are considered.
  • Working closely with teams from different departments such as operations, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and others, to use their expertise and insights to inform financial decisions and strategies.
  • Assists in the development and report of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) by collecting current actuals and calculating the metrics.Performs additional ad hoc analyses and other duties as assigned.
