    Role Overview
    The Financial Analyst will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis of commodity markets and LMS’ financials to provide valuable insights that underpin investment decisions. You will play a crucial role in performing risk analysis for LMS’ commodities portfolio, assisting in the development of trading strategies, and collaborating closely with the Business Development team to conduct thorough evaluations of various strategic and operational projects.
    As part of this diverse role, you will support the LMS Trading team by providing essential analysis, including budget and forecast creation, and craft detailed reports, presentations, and dashboards to effectively communicate analysis results, insights, and recommendations to both management and other stakeholders. Your responsibilities will also encompass the development and maintenance of financial models, specifically in asset purchasing, as well as the creation of documentation outlining new processes within the trading team.
    About the Person
    The ideal candidate for this role has a strong proficiency in financial modelling with proven experience in modeling asset purchasing data analysis and market research, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a sound attention to detail. The Finance Analyst will need to have an innate self-motivation, demonstrating a proactive approach, and an intrinsic ability to take ownership of their work, delivering results even with limited supervision.
    The Financial Analyst will need to be a team player who is committed to continuous development and self-improvement to foster their personal and professional growth. They will possess strong communication skills to effectively engage with an array of stakeholders including external partners, supervisors and colleagues from different areas of the LMS team.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or Business/Economics.
  • 3+ years of experience in a financial/commercial analyst role, preferably specialising in markets, M&A, or corporate finance.
  • High proficiency in using financial software tools such as Excel, R, Stata, or similar data analytics platforms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in building financial models
  • Knowledge/experience in Energy and Carbon markets is advantageous.
  • Some interstate travel may be required
