The Opportunity.
We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst/Senior Financial Analyst to join our national Finance team. This is a dynamic and ever-growing role that requires supplying accurate and meaningful information to facilitate key financial and operational decisions within the business while meeting compliance obligations. It presents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various areas of accounting, including management accounting and IFRS financial accounting, accounting consolidation, and international financial transactions. The candidate will be working within a broader financial analyst team and provided guidance in required tasks working under the direction of the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis.
It is expected that the successful candidate will work on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities.

  • Support the integration of financial accounts into a global public company, ensuring seamless processes, data accuracy, and compliance
  • Develop new integrated financial metrics to foster next-level business performance and enable data-driven decision-making
  • Perform account reconciliations of selected asset and liability accounts, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve outstanding items promptly
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to banking transactions, intercompany billings, expense allocations, and routine accruals
  • Contribute to regular budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Assist with sales tax compliance and prepare monthly filings
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis of expenses, comparing actual results to budgeted figures and presenting findings to management
  • Establish ongoing data collection mechanisms for newly established corporate reporting
  • Assist with the first IFRS annual financial statement audit and fulfill half-year public company reporting obligations
  • Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Provide support for ad-hoc financial requests and finance projects as needed

Qualifications, competencies, and experience.

  • Previous experience working in a finance or accounting environment
  • Post-secondary education with a focus on accounting
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or is in the process of pursuing a CPA designation
  • Experience or knowledge of international finance reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Experience with Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) accounting would be an asset but not required
  • Experience or understanding of strong internal controls
  • High proficiency in Excel including pivots, complex formulas, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and a desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Effective communicator amongst other finance and accounting professionals.
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently, multitask, and deliver timely results with high quality
  • Aptitude for automating and streamlining financial processes and procedures
  • Proficiency with Power Query is an asset
