JOB DESCRIPTION:
Candidates must be eligible for Reliability Status Clearance, which requires that they have lived and worked in Canada for the past 5 consecutive years. No exceptions, please.
This role will report to the Manager, Financial Controls. The Financial Controls team is responsible for developing and maintaining effective financial controls through monthly financial reconciliations and monitoring processes.
As a member of the Group Benefits Finance team, Financial Analyst will work to improve account reconciliation processes and financial controls, develop and maintain internal reports and Microsoft Office based applications.
Responsibilities:
Review reconciliations prepared by Sr. Accounting Specialists to ensure they are accurate and meet tight company account reconciliation standards and Sarbanes-Oxley controls
- Prepare reconciliations, identify and resolve differences; prepare monthly account reconciliation reporting
- Make recommendations to management to influence decisions and support policy/process development
- Identify appropriate control gaps and work with management and staff in other departments to resolve
- Perform and/or review aging of Balance Sheet accounts to ensure payables/receivables are effectively managed and controlled
- Reconcile accounts from Oracle (current system) to SAP (new system)
- Provide training and technical support to Senior Accounting Specialists and other departments
- Coordinate and/or support internal and external audits
- Manages and/or participates in small projects and provide subject matter expertise
- Identify and implement process enhancements to increase team efficiencies and internal controls by using appropriate applications
- Validate, improve and document business processes
