Title of the position: Financial assistance coordinator
MaKami College is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial assistance coordinator to join our team. As an integral member of the Finance team, you will be supporting students in navigating the complex landscape of financial aid options and resources. A financial assistance coordinator contributes to the overall mission of the college by facilitating access to higher education for students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and supporting their academic success and retention.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of applicable experience within an educational environment would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience or coursework in statistical analysis. Data modeling is a plus.
  • Previous experience in higher education or instructional design is preferred but not required

    Terms of Employment: Full Time permanent position
    Hours: 40 hours per week

    Salary: $50,000 plus monthly health allowance of $100

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various departments to collect, validate, and organize data from different sources including student information systems, surveys, financial information systems, and external sources.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness through regular audits and validation processes.
  • Communicate findings and insights effectively to internal stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and meetings.
  • Providing information, guidance, and assistance to students on funding and the financial aid application processes.
  • Ensure student loan applications are complete, relevant documentation submitted and funds are secured.
  • Monitor the status of all pending student loans
  • Compile data and create regular and customized reports, manuals, and correspondence.
  • Manage administrative tasks involved in post-secondary admissions.
  • Supervise and manage office administrative procedures while evaluating and implementing new protocols.
  • Guide applicants through the application process for financial aid, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Stay informed about changes to financial aid programs, government policies, and community resources to ensure that you can provide up-to-date information and assistance to potential students.
