Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with global consolidations and financial statement preparation
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Experience working with external auditors
  • Working knowledge of consolidation process
  • Experience with acquisition integrations preferred
  • Experience with ERP implementations is a plus
  • Experience with a private equity-backed business is a plus
  • Experience working in a Federal Government Contracting environment is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent and be able to present in English.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly with Excel
  • ACCA certification preferre

Responsibilities:

The Financial Controller Europe is responsible to the Vice President, Corporate Controller for managing compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Financial Controller Europe can be authorized through Power of Attorney to act as the legal representative of Emmes legal entities in Europe to perform specified financial operations. Further, the Financial Controller Europe oversees regional accounting activities, practices and internal controls across all Emmes legal entities in Europe. The Financial Controller Europe takes a hands-on leading role which enables senior management to have confidence in the accuracy and completeness of financial records and the effectiveness of the control environment. It will also require collaboration with other stakeholders as a business partner and to generate process improvements. This individual will ensure qualified submission of financial data in support of company-wide processes to deliver consolidated global financial statements. The Financial Controller Europe will support the company and the Vice President, Corporate Controller in the audit process and in managing the financial affairs of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision for all accounting and tax operations, including accounts payable, billing, collections, general ledger, and other related functions
  • Can be authorized (through Power of Attorney) to act as the legal representative of Emmes legal entities in Europe to perform the defined financial operations (e.g. tax submissions, relevant financial reports submissions, assets purchase and assets sale, banking, etc)
  • Closely cooperate with Managing Director Europe
  • Serve as a Line Manager for Finance & Accounting roles located in Europe
  • Oversees the operations of general accounting activities performed in-house and by 3rd party firms
  • Oversees financial consolidation for all lines of businesses in Europe, ensuring accuracy and providing variance explanations
  • Drive implementation and supervise the execution of relevant finance related corporate policies across Emmes affiliates in Europe, e.g. travel policy, insurance policy, etc
  • Manages regional and business-line banking, treasury, and disbursements processes to ensure efficient cash management and compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Serve as a business partner to the in-region business leaders, collaborating understand their financial reporting, analysis needs and objectives
  • Interact regularly with 3rd party accounting and tax service providers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and value-added delivery of finance and accounting reporting
  • Ensures timely and proper management of the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including intercompany reconciliations
  • Coordinates financial and statutory audits with the Vice President, Corporate Controller
  • Establishes, documents, and ensures execution of internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
  • Implements, process improvements and automation where needed
  • Drive transformational initiatives aimed at consolidating and bringing transactional accounting work performed by external agencies in-house to a single global business process management partner
  • Overtakes comprehensive responsibility for proper usage of the existing various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in Europe, co-drives the consolidation of their outcomes at global level and works on their further improvement – to support delivery of financial results. If relevant drives the implementation of a new ERP system in Europe
  • Cooperates on further extension of Emmes footprint in Europe
  • Closely partners with Operations Finance and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) functions to support data needs, cash flow forecasts and utilization analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
