Our opportunity
As Financial Controller, Funds Management, you will be responsible for internal and external reporting across Managed Funds and the Funds Management business. This includes working with relevant stakeholders to design, implement and maintain appropriate systems, processes, controls and governance for Managed Funds and Mirvac’s Funds Management business. This role is also the lead Finance business partner for managed vehicles and Fund teams without a dedicated finance business partner currently half the Funds Management platform. The Financial Controller, Funds Management is a senior member in the Mirvac’s Funds Management team. The role reports directly to the General Manager, Finance.

Responsibilities:

People leadership: Build a high performing finance team to support Funds Management, fostering close collaboration with the Group Advisory Solutions function and across divisions and departments, in a manner that maximises business outcomes. Actively develop people, culture and capability with own team whilst contributing to the culture of the broader team.
Reporting and performance management: Delivery of all financial reporting and analysis activities for the Funds Management business, and Funds managed on behalf of our Capital Partners. This includes co-ordination of engagement across Group Advisory Solutions, external auditors, external joint venture partners and other stakeholders as required. Support implementation of the performance management framework to improve timeliness and quality of information for decision making.
Financial control and governance: Ensure robust and reliable processes, controls and governance is in place across Funds Management. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to make improvements to ensure efficient, transparent and effective processes, controls and governance.
Business Partnering: Partner with the Funds Management Leadership team to drive performance of the Funds Management Business including providing insight into, recommend initiatives to grow profitability, manage cost base and maintain appropriate overhead controls. Provide Finance business partnering support to managed vehicles and Funds Management teams without a dedicated finance business partner.
Policies: Perform regular reviews of finance related policies and where required. Work with the National Manager, Operations and Fund Managers to develop new policies to support Managed Funds.
Risk Management: Partner with the Group Risk function to help develop and maintain a strong risk-based culture and environment, with risk profiles, risk assessments and control self-assessments operating effectively.
External stakeholders and service providers: Build strong relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors and tax advisors to ensure smooth delivery of advice and opinions. Manage relationships and drive outcomes with the Mirvac Service Centre in Manila, to provide offshore support to Finance and Digital teams.
Tax: Responsible for overseeing day to day tax compliance activities and collaborating with Group tax on complex matters and key transactions.
Treasury: Work with Treasury team to ensure appropriate cashflow management is in place for Managed Funds and the Funds Management business as relevant.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive implementation of improvement opportunities through process redesign, system review and best practice adoption to enhance the Funds Management control environment and reporting processes in a collaborative manner.
Systems: Partner with the Mirvac Digital Team to ensure the accounting platform is operating effectively and optimised for Mirvac’s Funds Management business. This includes identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance system functionality and capability whilst maintaining financial data integrity at all times.
Transformation: Actively support transformational change and continuous improvement in finance in line with the Mirvac’s strategic direction, Mirvac NEXT change program, and any finance operating model enhancements. Identify improvement opportunities, make recommendations and drive the implementation of changes in process ensuring best practice is shared and leveraged across the broader finance team.
Your point of difference
To be successful, you will have relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or Commerce and prior experience in property, investment management or funds management. You will be CPA or CA qualified, and possess exceptional internal and external relationship and stakeholder management, collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills. Resilience with the ability to think strategically, adapt to change, deal with ambiguity and complexity is a must. You have a proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to solve problems, improve system and procedural efficiency and effectiveness, and resolve issues as they arise. You have the ability to manage and lead a high performance and outcomes oriented team of finance professionals.
