QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working within the Finance Department, the Financial Controller will lead the Company’s financial accounting, reporting and control activities across the Company and ensure that they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice. They are responsible for ensuring that all ledgers are accurately maintained and for the timely and accurate delivery of Company and Group reporting data including management accounts, statutory accounts and tax information. The position will be key in supporting the delivery of revenue and profit growth targets, and delivering a modernised finance function.
The Financial Controller will be an ambassador and role model for IMI Process Automation, Aston and will act with integrity and in accordance with Company policies at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Controller, in coordination with the Finance Director will be responsible for facilitating the flow of safe, reliable, accurate and readily available data, to both internal and external customers.

  • The Financial Controller’s core function will be, but not limited to:
  • Completion of group ‘Cognos’ reporting to deadlines set by HO submitting as required.
  • Maintenance of the Company’s records to achieve the month end reporting deadlines.
  • Production of full month end file to support the Cognos reporting and management accounts production for review by FD, answering any resulting questions or dealing with any queries arising from that review.
  • Production of yearly statutory accounts pack and tax pack.
  • Maintaining an appropriate control environment.
  • Review of the quarterly VAT returns.
  • Preparation and supervision of a full suite of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis with appropriate back up and explanation for FD review.
  • Preparation and implementation of annual stock cycle counting processes.
  • Completion of the monthly margin review report from month end records and liaising with Sales for updates on on-going projects and the inclusion of new projects to be monitored.
  • Preparation of Internal Control Declaration and Evidence binder and development, implementation and reporting of the improvement plan..
  • Responsible for Fixed Assets including regular review and reporting.
  • Responsible for Excess and Obsolete Inventory reporting.
  • Support the quarterly and annual budget and forecasting activities.
  • Completion of the monthly budget/forecast versus actual spend by department, reporting to the PD, FD and budget holders to identify spend outside of the budget for the remainder of the year and highlighting potential areas of under/over spend.
  • Preparation/maintenance of the cashflow predictions in line with submissions to HO identifying any variances between the two at month end.
  • Support to all teams establishing and agreeing and monitoring KPI’ to aid performance.
  • Review of sales credit note requests, changes to the sales ledger master data file, all BACS/bank payments on Lloyds link; TMS transactions.
  • Managing the Finance team, directing team’s priorities for the day or week and identifying areas where tasks need to be taking place.
  • Being the main liaison for auditors and bank relationship manager, supplying all information needed.
  • Assisting when required across the business with general queries relating to anything including new contracts, the renewal of leases, costing and purchase invoice processing.
  • Reviewing and authorising supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Monitoring any CAPEX projects and the general coding of purchase invoices.
  • Undertaking periodic clear down of GRNI on EFACS cross checking to supplier statements.
  • Writing/reviewing of SOP’s for the Finance Department and updating the SOP register on the system.
  • Overseeing the processing and initial audit of Company credit card and personal expense claims, to ensure compliance with Travel and Expense policy.
  • Act as main contact for most IMI HO queries relating to compliance, tax, statutory accounts, submissions via Cognos.
  • Participating in cross functional teams.
  • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.
  • Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.
