Description:

SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the finance department, preparation and management of the Resort’s financial budgets, implementing and overseeing all activities relating to the financial aspects of the Resort in compliance with the local tax laws and also by the Resort’s SOP’s. This role will be stationed in Canareef Resort Maldives and required occasional travel to Singapore office.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • MBA, Masters in Finance, or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 3 years in the hospitality industry (hotels or resorts preferred).
  • Proven track record of financial leadership, cost control initiatives, and driving profitability in hotel/resort environments.
  • Thorough understanding of financial principles, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and regulatory requirements in the hospitality industry.
  • Added exposure to Maldives is useful (but not a must)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, financial modelling, and experience with hotel-specific software.
  • Familiarity with hotel/resort operations and industry performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership skills. Able to be hands-on when required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Curious and able to think out of the box. Enthusiastic with a passion for his/her job.
  • Flexible, adaptable, entrepreneurial.

Responsibilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of financial management and accounting issues in hospitality industry
  • Prepare financial statements and related accounting reports, budgets and forecasts and continuous audits of all transactions of the Resort.
  • Ensure timely preparation of all accounting reports and for the preparation of governmental schedules and tax reports for various governmental agencies.
  • Work with the Executive Committee in completing Annual Operating Budget information on operating cash flow, capital improvements and special repairs and maintenance
  • Compare budgeted to actual expenditures and report to Resort management when a variance in individual items occurs in order that remedial action can be taken
  • Co-operate with internal and external auditors to minimize cost of auditing and implement their recommendations
  • Coordinate with the various department heads with respect to the relationship of accounting procedures to operation procedures.
