Responsibilities:

More than just a leadership role, you will help us identify our clients long term goals and will work closely with the Executive General Manager (Finance and Post Settlements Operations). The Financial Controller will be responsible for supporting and managing the wider Accounting and Finance team (2 direct reports) as they perform a range of accounting and financial management tasks. This role acts as a key support to the Executive General Manager and assists in the efficient running and execution of deliverables for the department. Key to the success of this position is a pro-active, hands-on and customer centric approach.

  • Preparation of periodic management accounts and annual financial statements for corporate entities.
  • Manage a small team and encourage a pro-active, hands-on approach to a broad range of tasks, projects and responsibilities.
  • Accept phone calls from borrowers and action any enquires associated with their call.
  • Run the accounts’ payable function including the management of broker upfront and trail payment processing and other general accounts payable/receivables.
  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare journals.
  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • Assist with the audit of annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate and assist with audit processes.
  • Assist with the oversight and general support of the admin team to ensure they are working effectively with the wider business.
  • Manage the broker accreditation function.
  • Assist with review of Annual Income Tax Return and Annual Investment Income reports in partnership with our external tax partners.
  • Prepare the budgets and liquidity forecasts and review in partnership.
  • Prepare a monthly board reporting pack in association with the wider team.
  • Assist with all aspects of borrower servicing commencing with loan settlement right through until discharge.
  • Run VMG payroll processing including payment of payroll tax, PAYG and superannuation.
  • Oversee the overall compliance and regulatory functions of the business in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensure the organisation is fully compliant and aware of the relevant regulatory requirements (ASIC, AFSL, Austrac, AFCA).
  • Be part of the Senior Leadership Team at VMG and assist in mentoring, training, supporting and developing other staff
