Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, QinetiQ Air Affairs (QAA), part of QinetiQ’s Threat Representation business unit, provides targets and training services, and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts. Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to the Australian Sector CFO and working closely with the MD QAA, this role will be an integral part of the QAA leadership team, influencing decision-making processes and driving initiatives that contribute to sustainable growth, operational excellence, and innovation across the business.

This will be an Australian based appointment – either in Nowra, New South Wales (preferred) or within a short, commutable distance. Relocation support will be made available where required.

Responsibilities:

Ownership and management of all end of month and year-end reporting including the preparation of statutory accounts
Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that support QinetiQ’s growth objectives and operational goals
Lead internal compliance efforts and manage relationships with internal and external partners to ensure financial integrity and transparency
Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making processes within the company
Drive and execute projects including implementation of new systems
Mentor and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
About you
Degree qualified in Finance or Accounting
CA or CPA qualified with demonstrated experience leading transaction control, reporting, compliance and systems
Commercially focussed and technically astute with a continuous improvement style
Experience with financial systems implementations and upgrades
Exceptional communication skills, strong business acumen and senior stakeholder management skills
