Essential;
- Bachelor of Business (or equivalent) accounting degree
- ACCA, CPA or CA qualified
- Proficient in use of Excel (intermediate / advanced)
- Minimum 8 years financial reporting experience in insurance industry is a MUST
- Proficient use of a financial general ledger system
- Strong accounting and financial reporting capabilities
- Numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to plan and prioritise workflow to tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
This position is responsible for the financial reporting, regulatory returns and other statistical reports to internal stakeholders and external parties. This would include US GAAP and IFRS reporting, MAS/LFSA Regulatory Returns, Tax returns and other relevant reports for Berkely Insurance Company - Singapore branch, Labuan branch and any other territories.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;
- Preparation and recording all of the branch’s financial transactions in order to meet the monthly corporate US GAAP reporting timetable.
- On a monthly basis, reconcile all balance sheet accounts and key profit and loss accounts in relation to technical underwriting for both US GAAP and local Regulatory ledger as required.
- Fulfill the quarterly and year-end US GAAP reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit quarterly and year-end MAS/LFSA Regulatory Returns and respond to regulatory queries.
- Prepare the Financial Statements for the various branches.
- Oversee the quarterly preparation and submission of the GST Return and complete the year-end Corporate tax Return, as well as annual commission return to IRAS.
- Maintenance of financial controls within business systems, processes (including Excel models) and keep process documentation updated. This includes the requirements associated with SOX and MAS reporting.
- Assist with preparation of Own Risk And Solvency Assessment.
- Manage a team of two, while working closely with our finance colleagues in other countries.
- Keep up to date with changes in MAS, IFRS, tax and other relevant standards and guidelines.
- Continually look to improve processes in the finance department.
- Complete ad hoc tasks/projects as required.
- Assist the CFO Asia with other duties as assigned.
