ABOUT YOU
You have strong commercial acumen, a collaborative approach and the ability to provide solutions-focused, commercial legal advice to a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
What we’re looking for:
- 5-7 years PQE lawyer with broad experience in financial services law and general corporate/commercial law.
- Solid understanding of financial services laws, obligations of AFS licensees, investment advisory, investment management and investment operations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, understand legal issues and partner with the business to deliver sound advice and solutions.
- Proactive in understanding and communicating legal risks, delivering risk management strategies.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and also collaboratively, both as an internal legal adviser and in liaison with external law firms.
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a hands-on approach to a broad-ranging role.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support including review and negotiation of contracts, advising on regulatory issues and supporting the business with advice on legislative changes and legal risk management.
- Offer legal assistance across Mutual Trust’s Wealth Business, including advisory on AFS licensing requirements, reviewing legal documentation and ensuring compliance with the Corporations Act and ASIC regulations.
- Support on workplace law matters, provide updates on changes in law, and assist with employment agreements.
- Offer internal legal advice to client-facing team members and advise the Philanthropy Team on compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and governance practices.
- Prepare materials for compliance learning systems and deliver internal training on legal issues
