Job Purpose
Execute day-to-day activities associated with fire protection. Remain prepared while on duty to fight fires and resolve operational incidents including fires, rescue, radiological or conventional hazardous materials spillage and other defined emergency special services. Determine incident status and diagnose specific fire hazards identified through inspection and investigation.
Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability
Activity:
Surveillances

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Conduct examination of fire suppression system and equipment across the owner-controlled area at Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) to ensure its operability in the event of an emergency.
  • Conduct fire suppression system and equipment monitoring according to prescribed regiment to maintain adherence to regulatory protocols.
  • Draft reports based on surveillance findings to maintain strong record keeping practices in the event of an audit.

Training and Qualification

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Participate in training to equip necessary technical knowledge and skills to provide firefighting capabilities in the event of an emergency.
  • Participate in training throughout year to remain alert and up to date on training requirements and any changes to protocol.

Operational Incident Resolution

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Establish incident statuses using underpinning knowledge and experience to ensure a safe conclusion to operational emergency events.
  • Provide support for incident command and control and implement all necessary actions to support those involved whilst ensuring safety and security for affected personnel.
  • Support in resolving operational incidents when they occur and be able to conclude them with minimum disruption or damage to people, plant and equipment.These incidents can include responding to an active fire or drill, responding to a conventional or radiological spill/release, and/or responding to a personnel emergency situation.
  • Coordinate with external organization, as appropriate and as required, to resolve operational incidents.
  • Respond to an emergent incident as a first responder to prevent injury or loss of life of personnel.
  • Support the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) fire brigade crew(s) if needed.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Identify solutions to hazards and risks identified through surveillances and operational activities to minimize any negative operational impact.
  • Consult with FP colleagues to offer practical advice during fire surveillances and operational activities.
  • Follow an operational response plan to meet the outcome of any surveillance/operational activity in order that the intervention arrangements are ready to provide the support required.

Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Support outage and/or the emergency response organization, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.

  • 2 years of relevant experience.
